DeepFaker allows you to replace the face of any person in a video. The app has an impressive AI feature that allows you to upload a video, then take a photo of a person, and generate a new video with a different face. At the same time, the new face does not just replace the old one, but merges with it.

Developers were preparing DeepFaker for its first release in the App Store. In order for the app to receive installs from search, the publishers decided to conduct text optimization and contacted Angle Connect for this purpose. When releasing the app, they chose the English (U.S.) localization, which automatically became the main locale in all countries.

Sphere specifics: the query pool for ASO is narrow
The app belongs to the Photo & Video and Entertainment categories, where there is quite a lot of competition. But because DeepFaker specializes in features for swapping faces in videos, the pool of relevant keywords narrows. Therefore, you need fewer iterations to determine which keyword queries will boost an app's position in App Store search.
How we worked with ASO
As part of the initial text optimization, we selected text metadata for English (U.S.) and Spanish (Mexico) — an additional locale that is indexed in the United States.

We wanted to attract as many organic installs to the app as possible right after its release in the App Store, so we needed relevant keywords with good traffic. When searching for keywords, we used Asodesk tools for creating a semantic core.

Daily Impressions is Asodesk's algorithm that shows you the number of  impressions per query per day.
We put the words "face swap video" at the beginning of the app title and got "Face Swap Video by DeepFaker". Since the app has just entered the market, the App Store algorithms gave it a boost and created a search suggestion with the app title.

When a user enters "face swap video" or similar phrases in the App Store search bar, they get the full title of the app as an auto suggestion. Now, for a relevant search query with good traffic, users immediately see the title of our customer's app and often click on it.

Suggestions in the USA
If we left only the brand name in the title and did not add the "face swap video" key to the beginning of the title, we would not have received an auto suggestion from Apple.

Getting into the App Store suggestions helped us get our first installs. In addition to the United States, this search suggestion appeared in China, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
In the 27 days after release, the app has increased its number of indexed search queries by 5 times. At the moment, the app is indexed by an average of 111 queries daily, 8 of which are the most effective and bring the majority of its installs. Total Daily Impressions for these queries is about 2056.

The app receives organic installs from search suggestions in the US and UK: currently, the app gains 120 installs per month in the US and 240 per month in the UK.

Before releasing the app in the App Store, you should consider how to get the most organic installs by changing the metadata. We have proven that the App Store creates auto suggestions based on app titles for new releases if the first part of the title contains a keyword. This way, adding general keywords before the brand name will help increase its recognition immediately after release.
